Ashley and Abigail"Lydia has been essential to my breastfeeding relationship with my daughter. It started on a rainy Sunday morning the day after my daughter came home when Lydia drove to my house to help me and reassure me that my milk was all that she needed. She gave me tips on how to breastfeed most comfortably with large breasts and different positions that would be the easiest for me. She taught me hand expression and how to regulate my supply. She has since helped me through my concerns after a car accident, and a long bout with mastitis, among other things. I know that her advice will be sound and I know she always listens to my concerns. She has helped me through all the questions that I've had, no matter how silly they may seem. She is a natural cheerleader and encourager, which is sometimes all we need! She has also creating an amazing community through Expressions! Lactation Services on Facebook that is a world of encouragement and help to all moms. I owe the success of my breastfeeding relationship to her!"
Alicia and Willow"I just can't express enough how wonderful Lydia is! The day after my sweet Willow was born peacefully at home I noticed that I was having a bit of pain and difficulty trying to nurse her. I thought I knew it all after nursing twins for 16 months without a problem besides a latch issue with one twin in the first two weeks which was fixed by a local lactation consultant in Texas. I knew I was not going to wait this time so I called Lydia right away. She came over an hour later and dramatically improved our latch in just 30 min.
"A few months later I had the idea of a date night with my husband and realized Willow wouldn't take a bottle. Lydia immediately scheduled a class for all moms who needed tips for bottle feeding and just after two classes I was able to get her over her sensory oral issues and she was using a bottle! Not to mention learning to hand express during the first class too! Wow I really thought I knew it all after the twins but she has taught me so much and improved my breastfeeding relationship so much! She has been there at all hours whenever I have needed her for whatever I needed her for! I will always recommend her to everyone I know!" Kitty and Courtney"I gave up trying to breastfeed my first baby after 5 days of extreme pain and nipple damage and switched to exclusive pumping. While pregnant with my second, I was anxious about how breastfeeding would go the next time. One thing I knew, I needed to have an expert I could ask for help because, in my mind, exclusive pumping was not an option this time. Thank God I found Lydia!
"Lydia is a wealth of information, not only on breastfeeding, but total health. She makes you feel comfortable from your first contact with her. Some women might be hesitant or shy about inviting a stranger into their home and asking for help with breastfeeding, but I promise you, you'll forget you've never met her as soon as she comes in! "Lydia came to my house several times in those first few VERY ROUGH weeks. She was able to evaluate latch, teach me different breastfeeding positions, how to hand express, and offer other suggestions on how to continue and improve breastfeeding even when I could barely imagine making it one more day. She recommend a trip to the ENT, where we had my daughter's tongue tie and lip tie clipped, which helped resolve the pain I was having. Next week marks 7 months of breastfeeding for us, and I can say without a doubt, it would not have been possible without Lydia's support and guidance." |
Rochelle and Grace"Lydia was a huge help to me. With my first baby I had no support group or really any place I felt I could go for help with breastfeeding. I ended up quitting after only 2 months because the pediatrician recommended formula and no one told me there were other options.
"With the second baby, Grace, I was determined to breastfeed, because it was SO much cheaper than the money we spent on a years worth of formula, and it was better nutrition. My oldest has had health problems and I hope to avoid that by breastfeeding. "Grace was only a couple weeks old when I first met with Lydia. She (Grace) had been acting very fussy and gassy most days. She was also not gaining weight fast enough for the pediatricians liking, and they suggested formula supplementation several times. Lydia let me know about dairy elimination and how long before I would see results, she also gave me tips on how to help work the gas out of the baby and make her more comfortable. I had been told Grace had a tongue tie and Lydia confirmed it. The dairy elimination worked wonders, and once the tongue tie was fixed breastfeeding was finally "easy" like I hear so many people say, and Grace packed on the pounds. :) "We are now over 6 month of exclusive breast feeding and hoping to go at least 12 months. It's so great to have Lydia and the rest of the Expressions! Facebook group to turn to with questions and advice. I'm not sure we would've made it this far without the initial help from Lydia steering us in the right direction." Joanna and Ruben"Lydia is an amazing "lover of mothers." She is patient and listens to moms with compassion and a heart to help truly understand and get to
the core of any issues or complications. When I was nursing my new baby, she helped me via phone on her out of town with her family. I was so impressed with her devotion to help me, a woman she had never met. She was highly informative and quick to respond. "Once she was in town, we met in person. Again her passion for helping was evident and her desire to assist me in making choices for my baby was sincere. She stuck with me through many different theories and problem solving tragedies. Ultimately our only "issue" was something baby would just outgrow over time, but the peace of mind to know I had a competent breast feeding professional advocating for me and supporting me was priceless. As a mother of three, I would highly recommend her for any mom, first timers and experienced alike. Since each baby is different, each nursing experience is also unique." Sara and Elizabeth"I did not meet Lydia until after my daughter was born. My friend added me to Expressions! Lactation Services support group on Facebook because I was struggling to find people that actually supported my efforts to exclusively breast feed Elizabeth. Since I was added to the group, Lydia has helped me with so many things. I have all kinds of questions because I am a first time mother, and every time I have sent her a message she responded quickly.
"Recently I had issues using my pump and I was worried about not having enough milk saved for my daughter because I had a doctor's appointment. Lydia drove out to my house with new parts for my pump and she fixed it. While she was here we talked about depression and anxiety. I have been struggling with both for awhile. Since clinical depression runs in my family, I was looking at medicine and a support group to help me through this time. Lydia openly talked to me about options for medication so when I went to my doctor I was able to tell him what was safe for me to take while nursing. "Today I talked to her about my birth control, she assured me that what I am dealing with is perfectly normal and I am more than likely not pregnant. She is so knowledgeable and she really has a way of putting your mind at ease. She is amazingly supportive and she is non judgmental. I LOVE that about her. She is also becoming a good friend, while she was at my house with her son Jonah David, she watched my daughter roll from her back to her tummy for the first time ever! I strongly recommend all pregnant mommas and nursing mommas to reach out to Lydia with any questions or concerns they may have regarding motherhood." |
Betsy and Trinity"I struggled from the very beginning with breast feeding. My daughter and I had seen countless pediatricians and lactation consultants who could not diagnose a reason for why we were struggling so hard. After seeing another LC who was able to diagnose our tongue and lip tie, we finally were able to fix it. Lydia may not have been the one we saw to diagnose the ties, but she has been the one we have turned to ever since. Whenever I have questions or concerns, Lydia is a text message away! I believe that she became an IBCLC because she is passionate about women, babies, and nursing. There were countless times that I almost turned to formula because we were struggling so much, but every time she had encouraging words and reminded me that formula would never ever equal my milk and I trudged on. Now we are almost 6 months in, exclusively breast feeding, and I could not have done it without her help!"
JEM and Stella"Making the decision to leave my newborn and deploy wasn’t easy, but my husband and I decided it was better to take the short deployment before she
had attachment issues, than to risk being gone for a year when she was
older. We also made this decision before we knew how important it was to breastfeed for at least 6 months. "Lydia and her support group helped me with latch issues in the past, but she really came through as we prepared for mommy-baby separation. She was able to provide us advice on increasing my milk supply so I could build up a freezer stash. When we considered using donor milk, she walked me through its benefits and what questions to ask possible donors. Lydia also encouraged me to pump while deployed so I could maintain my supply and continue breastfeeding upon my return. "We have now completed 1 month of deployment. Baby girl is thriving on my frozen stash and donor milk, and I have been able to maintain a supply. Just one more month until baby girl reaches 6 months exclusively fed breast milk, not a drop of formula!" |
